Issue with Dell Optiplex 7090 sound output Audio not functioning properly on the Dell Optiplex 7090.
Hey, do you know anyone who has used the Dell OptiPlex lineup? I own a Dell OptiPlex 7090 11th Gen and am trying to connect headphones via the front Audio Jack (which is a headphone microphone combo). It doesn’t detect any input from my microphone, even though the headphones work fine on other devices like my friends' PC or laptop. I’ve installed all the drivers from the official Dell website, but nothing seems to work. Have anyone else faced this issue? Any suggestions or fixes?
We experienced issues at latitude 7420 while performing the same task. The fix involved using the Wave Max audio software, which works well and defaults to headphones when not connected. The connection must be set as a headset via the jack.
According to Mudflapman, the issue typically arises when the Waves Maxx Audio app is removed. Dell seems strict about needing specific software for their audio ports. https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-bg/...erid=mx1pp
I use Waves Maxx and connect my headset, it alerts me and I pick the headset, but the microphone remains inactive.
Did you check the window microphone options and let programs use the mic?
Other options include using the Dell Optimizer tool instead of Waves Audio. It might be worth trying. I didn’t link to the drivers directly, but they should appear on the product page below. Updating Dell Command could also patch everything, though it’s up to the user (some may see it as unnecessary bloat).

Thank you! It really helped resolve my issue and the software works well. Besides audio, there are additional settings you can adjust, such as performance options, which you can find in the BIOS instead of searching elsewhere.
