She recently got a brand new gaming setup with a Ryzen 9 5900X and a 3080 graphics card. She’s been streaming it, but the performance has dropped noticeably during streams—especially when she tries to play games at 10 frames per second. Even when she’s idle, the frame rate stays stuck around 10fps. I suspect the issue might be related to the RAM, as everything seems normal after a restart. I’ve suggested she upgrade her cooling system, but since the CPU runs hot even with air cooling, I’m not sure what else to check. I ran a thermal throttling test for about half an hour and found no problems. It might be worth testing the RAM as well, but I’m not sure where to start. Thanks for any advice!
It would be helpful to understand more details beyond the CPU and GPU. Because these events occur unpredictably, checking the event manager can be useful. For example, if you recall it happened last Tuesday at a specific time, searching for that exact moment might reveal useful information.
The delay appears exclusively during streaming. It seems OBS could be utilizing the graphics card together with the games, so consider switching it to run from the CPU instead.
