Hello everyone, After upgrading from an Aorus Master 3080 1.0 to an FTW3 Ultra 3080 (450w bios), I've experienced some annoying stuttering and odd CPU activity in CP2077. Initially, all my settings were at their maximum (except High instead of Psycho where possible) with Balanced DLSS. However, the issue continues even when using Low crowd density, RT off, and balanced DLSS. I’m not using HDD mode since the game runs on an SSD. Performance drops noticeably when riding a motorcycle around the city—CPU fluctuates between 35% to 95%, then restarts. While riding, CPU stays above 70% and spikes further during stutters, while GPU usage drops. The game is installed on an OCZ Trion 100 SSD, and I’m considering a 970 Evo Plus for better speed. Could it be the CPU problem, or is my older SSD the main issue? It seems slower when cycling through Night City at night. PS: My case airflow is poor, so I leave the side panel open to manage temperatures. System specs include 5600x @ 4.8ghz on an Aorus Elite x570 board with latest BIOS, FTW3 Ultra 3080 4x8 DDR4, 3800 CL, 16 EVGA, 850W gold, Windows 10, Crucial M550 SSD, plus a couple of HDDs for less demanding titles. I don’t play much in NZXT S340 cases.
Some GPUs experience stuttering with certain hardware. My EVGA XC3 Ultra 3080 had issues in CP2077 and Horizon Zero Dawn when paired with my 5800x setup, but worked smoothly on my i9 9900k rig. The 5800x model upgraded to the FTW3 Ultra 3080 Ti without problems. I’m not sure why the XC3 stuttered using VSync—my experience suggests it wasn’t the SSD, since my games run fine on SATA drives. Modded titles seem to perform better with fast M.2 storage.
For those who encounter this later, I discovered a solid offer on a Samsung 970 Evo Plus, installed CP2077 and everything appears normal. Performance has improved noticeably. The CPU maintains 80%+ speeds even in dense areas (high crowd density setting). We'll monitor the Zen 4 update before making further adjustments to the CPU.
