Issue with CS GO FPS
I've been playing a lot of CSGO lately. After fixing a mouse problem that made the game really hard, I thought I had solved everything. But after watching a video about good FPS in CSGO, I decided to try the game again to see how far I could go and if it would help with micro stutters. When I first tested my FPS on my computer from December, I was getting 120 FPS without any bots, and I was consistently around that number except when playing left 4 dead 2, where I dropped to about 60-80 FPS while being heavily swarmed. In an offline bot match, I found myself at around 42 FPS. I thought maybe I had forgotten, but I realized I was actually playing during that time. As I lowered the video quality and resolution down to 4:3, I didn't see any improvement—sometimes it even dropped to about 38 FPS. Overclocking my CPU didn’t help either. An outside FPS benchmark confirmed the same issue. Why can’t I increase my FPS? What am I doing wrong? Please help me. Thank you.
AMD Athlon 860K is running at 4400 MHz with R9 280 and 8 GB RAM. It seems the processor isn’t operating at full capacity anymore.
Add the following to your Steam start settings: -high, -threads x [number of your CPU threads], -nod3d9ex, -nojoy
You recently made changes that caused your frame rate to drop. After resetting everything to its default state, it now runs at 25 fps. Previously, everything felt smooth except for minor micro stutters, but after the adjustments, performance became much harder to maintain.
You might want to include cl_forcepreload 1 in your setup, which automatically loads all level assets when you start. This could potentially raise your FPS slightly. It’s best to avoid the tutorials that suggest boosting FPS by tweaking launch options or configurations—they often backfire or provide no benefit. I don’t believe -nod3d9ex is doing anything useful anymore based on what was shared. -nojoy will free up a bit of RAM because it turns off joystick support, but with your 8GB you shouldn’t notice much change in FPS. It’s unclear why lowering quality wouldn’t help; reducing settings might still yield a small improvement.
