My processor reaches 100°C during gaming, while my friend's 9900K stays at 70°C under identical settings. I'm using default motherboard configurations and believe my cooler is properly installed. I spread thermal paste with a small plastic spatula before adding the heatsink. The system was unstable at first, but it stabilized after I removed the processor. Now temperatures remain high. I'm considering a Thermalright CPU Contact Frame to enhance cooling. Are there other solutions I should try? Could the issue lie with the motherboard or the Mini ITX design? It seems like you're dealing with a high-power CPU that's drawing a lot of heat. You should check the BIOS settings for power limits and adjust the PL1 and PL2 values so they match your cooler's capabilities at the desired noise level.
I wonder what adjustments would work on your motherboard. I believe I located the correct setting, but it's hidden and labeled as auto for both long and short duration power limits. When I try to click it, nothing happens, and I can't lower the CPU cache ratio. I'm checking the BIOS manual provided in the discussion, but I don't see instructions for adding those limits.
I figured it out. I need to manually type in the number. Is 95 a suitable limit for long and short? I have a picture I want to add, but I keep encountering this error when posting.
See if there is an option called Intel POR. That's basically the intel factory wattage settings. If that works you don't have to do it manually. Which is what I did originally but some games, like helldiver would see the CPU clock go down from 5.9 to 5.3 due to power limitations.
Also, if you have g-sync on, turn that crap off. I was having performances and crashing issues with my 14900ks and all my fixes would work temporarily. A dev from a indie game told me g-sync creates issues in some unreal 5 game. I have to test it more extensively but I believe this could be what was crashing helldivers 2.
ASUS has just dropped a beta BIOS update. Is this version secure? It appears to address overheating concerns.
