About three to four weeks ago, my father's old laptop began showing CPU spikes—usage jumping to 100% for a brief moment, followed by fans slowing down. This caused video and audio issues. We checked the Microsoft guide on high CPU usage and Windows Management Instrumentation, but didn’t identify the cause. No malware detected, no suspicious programs using excessive memory. The problem continues even when nothing is running. The system and drivers are up to date, and the BIOS is current.
