I own a cosmic byte Pandora keyboard. The control key isn't functioning properly. The switch feels unstable and can be moved inside the socket. When pulled slightly, it works correctly, but under pressure it behaves differently. If the top part is raised, it works normally, yet pressing it down stops it from working. I purchased this keyboard in 2022. How can I fix this issue?

Is it a hot-swap board? You might be able to swap out the switch and/or stabilizers.

Yes, they are swappable. But is there a solution to address this? The outemu switches are expensive and I can't afford them at the moment.

You don't have to get the precise switches; you can also purchase samplers for a few dollars. Even a complete set of switches typically costs around 15USD. You can learn about the different kinds, but the main categories are Blues (clicky), Browns (quiet but tactile), and Reds (quiet, not tactile). There are many other variations, but that's something I'd rather skip right now. Did you look inside the box it came in? Sometimes they include extra switches and a puller.

the keycap puller came with the package, yet the switch puller and additional switches were missing. To determine the right switch for your keyboard, how should i identify the appropriate one?

How do the switches feel? Do they make an audible "click"? Is yes the they are Cherry Blue equivalent. No "click" but definitely a "bump" you feel as you depress the switch? Cherry Brown or equivalent. Just a straight push down, no "click" or "bump"? Cherry Red or equivalent. Outemu typically uses the same colours for the base of the switch as Cherry, as they are a near direct copy. Otherwise they may be a custom switch like mine which uses other colours. The base switch types remain the same, you won't need an exact match by type. You will need to make check if they are one or two post (little bits on the bottom that align the switch in the socket) though it's not too big of a deal. If three post you can trim the two extra. Amazon, if available to you, has a vast selection of switches to choose from.

They also list these switches on their own site at a reduced price.

This design offers great flexibility, letting you customize switches and keycaps to match your preferences. However, it might be too engaging for some users.
