Hey everyone! I just got a 3950X and followed the setup guide. Everything worked fine until I tried the 4250 speed in Ryzen Master. The stress test ran and the machine shut down. I think the cooling is the issue—it quickly hits over 100°C. I need some tips to boost my cooling. Right now, my PC is idling at 77°C, and a Cinebench test pushed it to 92°C. It looks like the cooler might be outdated (about 5+ years old) and could be the problem. Some users are reporting issues with the H115i cooler for this CPU. Should I consider getting a NZXT replacement? Thanks in advance!
It's a 3950X and it looks like it needs some upgrades. I'm planning to customize it and possibly install an AIO. A 360 setup might be a good idea too!
What speed are your pumps operating at? I noticed thermal problems when leaving them on a fixed header, so I always run them at full capacity. My Old Corsair H60 (first generation) was around 4000 RPM according to HWiNFO. The H110 seems to be about 1500 RPM. It might be these units taking over the motherboard control. I briefly used an H100iv2.
I purchased a Kraken Z73 and installed it today. Performance has noticeably improved. The idle speed dropped from 77°C to around 60°C, and the jump-up time is now about 80°C instead of 92°C when Cinebench runs. The score has increased to 8727. However, it’s still a bit high. What should I do? Could my case be affecting this? Should I mount the radiator on the front rather than the top? The Dark Base 900 is very modular, allowing me to relocate components easily. Let me know how it looks with the side door removed.
Also keen on this one. I recently got a 3950X and have an H115i with Noctua fans installed. Usually runs around 50C-65C, but can spike up to 10-20C during idle. New to AMD compared to Intel. There seems to be some issues sometimes—especially with percussive maintenance causing temps to climb to 70C+ while idling. A custom loop is scheduled for this week. Is this chip really that hot? The upcoming loop should include an EK-CoolStream SE 480 on the CPU. I'm worried about adding a GPU into the same loop, as it would likely raise its temperature further (currently around 33C with the RTX 2080). Also planning to recycle the radiator from the H115i—since it's so unreliable, I’m giving up on it if I cut the built-in hose. Thanks ahead for any tips. Feel free to share more specs if needed, but I'm really curious about this processor.
