Issue with connecting to UTP on my desktop
My computer is having trouble linking to the modem using UTP, while my laptop with the identical cable functions properly. My setup uses two Cat6 connections from the modem to my desktop, which connects to the wall and then to the modem. When I start my PC, the connection toggles between "no cable" and "identifying network." After about 20 seconds it stays in "identifying network" before finally showing "Unidentified network." On the IP configuration, the IPv4 address appears as an APIPA address. The unusual part is that when I connect my laptop using the same cable, it works instantly. During troubleshooting, I switched my desktop directly to the modem with a Cat5e cable—it connected immediately. I also tried another cable between the wall and my desktop, but the issue persists. My motherboard has an Intel® I219-V network adapter. All cables are brand new and recently installed.
Have you attempted to install the Ethernet driver? It can be required sometimes.
