It might be this. EVGA B1 units can be pretty bad, especially if they're delivering inconsistent power. Check your friend's power supply unit and/or graphics card.

It seems the issue might stem from a defective GPU or possibly the SSD controller. It could also relate to the SSHD, which isn't ideal. Could be a problem with the manufacturer's original equipment manufacturer (OEM). Were you wondering about WD, Seagate, or Hitachi?
