Hello everyone, I am a long-time user of this forum but this is my first ever post. The purpose of this post is to share the issue I have been having with my motherboard and see if anyone out there has been having the same issue and if anyone has any ideas of how to fix it. The Issue: When I upgrade the Bios on the motherboard to any version above 0604, the PCH Fan stops working. With the upgraded Bios, PCH Fan rotates twice when the power button is initially pressed then stops. By the time the UEFI is up the Fan has stopped. In the Monitor Tab of the UEFI, the PCH fan is N/A and not spinning. In windows, using HWiNFO 64 the RPM of the PCH fan is zero and visually the fan is not spinning. Without the PCH Fan the chipset temperature steadily rises to 80-90 degrees. During shutdown the fan does spin again, but only for a few seconds right before the power to the board shuts off. System Components: Motherboard: ASUS X570-E Gaming Motherboard CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 3900X Memory: 64 GB (4x 16 GB) Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 3200 MHz Main OS Drive: WD Black SN750 NVMe 1TB PSU: Corsair HX 1200 GPU: Nvidia GTX 1080 Ti x2 (problem occurs with single card and SLI 1080 Ti), Currently running single GTX 1080 Ti (all tests done with single and dual cards) Troubleshooting Steps I have spent almost 4 weeks now trying to work this issue with no luck. All tests were done using AMD X570 Chipset driver: 2.05.04.352 (downloaded from the ASUS product support page on their website) then repeated using AMD X570 Chipset drivers: 2.10.13.408 (downloaded from the AMD website). Testing Methodology: Three Flashing methods were used for all tested Bios, to make sure there was no issue with the method the board was updated. 1. Flashed using Asus Suite 3 EZ Update 2. Flashed using UEFI EZ Update 3. Flashed using rear IO Bios Flash Back button and a USB Stick After Bios Flash the UEFI Monitor Tab was checked for PCH fan detection. In Windows HWiNFO 64 was used to monitor PCH Fan speed and chipset temperature. The PC was set up so that the PCH Fan can also be visually monitored. Cinebench R20 (5-minute Loop), Aida64 (15 mins) and 3D Mark (Time Spy) were used to test the PC. After the benchmarks the PC was left idle for 30mins. Chipset temps would get up to 80-95C, PCH Fan would never turn on. Currently I have tested the issue 157 times Bios Tested: 0602 (PCH Fan Works), 0604 (Fan Works), 0804 (Fan DOES NOT Work), 7010 (Fan DOES NOT Work), 1005 (Fan DOES NOT Work), 1201 (Fan DOES NOT Work), 1404 (Fan DOES NOT Work), 1405 (Fan DOES NOT Work), 1407 (Fan DOES NOT Work), 1408 (Fan DOES NOT Work), 2408 (Fan DOES NOT Work), 2606 (Fan DOES NOT Work), 2802 (Fan DOES NOT Work). Interaction with ASUS On Oct 26, I contacted ASUS’s Service Center. I explained my issue with the PCH fan not turning on and they told me that it was an issue with the Bios. I was asked to fill out a Motherboard Feedback Form with the information that I provided above. They told me that the information would go off to their engineering department for a solutions. On Oct 27, they got back to me and told me to do the following: 1. Please flash the latest bios 2802 2. Ensure that the PCH fan is working properly. 3. Clear CMOS I followed their directions and the Fan did not work. On Oct 28, I was told to Flashback to 0604. (which I did and the fan is currently working). Today (Oct 29) they have recommended that I stay on 0604 and try again with their next Bios. ASUS’s Service Center has been good at following up with my issue, it is just unfortunate that they don’t have a solution. I was considering upgrading to an AMD 5000 series CPUs when they come out, however if I can’t update the bios then I would have to look at another Motherboard as well.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I also purchased a STRIX x570-e gaming with a 5800x in July 2021, and the PCH fan was working smoothly. Recently, I updated to BIOS version 4021, and the PCH fan stopped spinning—BIOS reported N/A. Could you let me know if there are any recent updates about this problem? Appreciate your help!
