Hi, I’m having trouble streaming Prime video in HD. My 16-inch laptop has a 2560x1600 resolution and an RTX 5070 graphics card. I can play YouTube videos in full HD without issues, but on Amazon Prime it doesn’t work. Thanks!

What type of internet connection and speed do you possess?
Is your browser current?
Are you using a VPN while browsing?
Do you have the K-lite codec pack activated?
Could you clarify what you mean by "unable to stream HD"? Do you refer to no streaming at all, or only standard/lower quality streams? Are the streams unstable, slow, or difficult to play? Do you experience errors? What exactly is happening?

Ethernet offers around 900mbps download speed.
My browser is current.
I have a VPN active but turned it off.
I’m not sure about the K-lite codec pack. How can I verify if it’s installed?
On Prime Video I can stream SD without issues. Yet, it doesn’t stream in HD at all, even when I set it to best video quality. I believe this issue is specific to Prime. I usually stream YouTube videos in HD without problems.

For most users, the Standard edition works well, though I opt for the Full edition. During installation, stick to the default settings unless you specifically want to change which media player is used. For example, if VLC or Potplayer is installed, set them during setup and turn off the legacy Windows media player option. After installation, keep all defaults unless you have a clear reason to adjust something, which is rare.

You don't need it. Windows relies on it. It holds all the latest codecs used by Windows for handling video in various formats. Once installed, if an outdated or missing codec caused issues, it should no longer be an issue. You'll likely need to restart Windows afterward.

Yes. Even the browser will use the codecs that are installed in Windows, since the browser is installed there. If it doesn't help, you might try disabling hardware acceleration in your browser settings. It's also a good idea to ensure your browser is up to date. What browser are you using?
