I just put in a new Windows 10 version and I already saved my data on my old operating system, including one of them being Witcher 3. Before I installed Windows, my files were up to date. Now, after installing Windows, when I tried to access my backup, the Witcher 3 saves looked outdated and disappeared completely, even in another backup folder. My latest save file is still in the original save folder named steam_autocloud.vdf, which is a year older than before. I’m still puzzled about this because I backed up everything, including the most recent saves and main folders, but I suspect it might be related to uninstalling Witcher 3 before backing up my PC. I thought even if I deleted it, the files would remain, since I had restored them many times before. Now I only have that latest file in the cloud on Steam. I’m considering reinstalling Witcher 3 in Steam, but I’m not sure if that will help or if there’s any chance to recover my old saves.

Well, I'm planning to install Witcher 3 today or tomorrow depending on how things go. If life throws a curveball, I might need a serious break from the game. It's really puzzling why all my save files just vanish, leaving only some old ones even after copying them elsewhere. I also remember there were conflicts with Steam Cloud syncing before I reformatted my old PC and moved my saves. Plus, I had another instance where Steam Cloud wasn't working well with local files. But I still have an image backup for my old PC, so I'm hoping to restore it and possibly reinstall the game there, hoping for the best.

And it's clear the current save is outdated. I switched from the Morhen Ugly Baby Quest to something else, but now I still need to finish the Cerys and hjalmars quests. I think I might have lost everything. It’s surprising that I managed to back up two images yet failed to save the game. One reason I reformatted my PC was because of this. Well, the game is really good, but in my situation right now, it feels best to stop playing. It would be tough for me to start over again, and I might try the image backup, though it seems unlikely. I already checked them, and none of them saved properly. If I had installed it there, it would have been saved. But now only the old files remain, which is why the first saves in White Orchard are gone. Haha, what’s going on?
