Hello, I reached out today because this problem has been happening consistently. Usually when I play most games, especially without League of Legends, mid-game my system freezes completely. Sounds stop, repeat, or fade into a long noise while the screen stays stuck. There’s no BSOD, just total lockup. In Event Viewer I only see a few error codes. I’m really confused about what to do and am asking for advice. Event 41, Kernel Power Event 2, Kernel-EventTracinbg Full system specs OS - Windows 10 64bit. System age (4+ years). OS installed about 2 years ago? RAM: R5 2600 MSI Gaming X 2080 TI Asus Strix B450 F GSKILL 16Gb TridentZ DDR4 3200 kit. This seems like a possible cause since Ryzen 2000s had memory issues. Samsung Evo 1tb NVME and Crucial MX500 1TB Corsair RMX850.
It seems the default 2133MHz won't work well with your 3600MHz low timing setup. I considered resetting the BIOS and checking for crashes, but it looks like overheating or a failing PSU might be the issue. The timing problems likely stem from increased heat reducing power efficiency and generating more warmth.
So, mild update. Defaulting the profile worked for awhile but now it is back to this behavior. However, it has slightly changed. Now I will be playing a game and things will seem normal until suddenly some applications start to not function correctly. They will start to not have their UI be responsive, clicking things does nothing. For awhile windows will persist and I can attempt to close things but nothing will happen. If I try and cntrl alt delete nothing will happen and then all that works is moving my mouse around. Ive tried repairing the OS a few times with syscan but its not doing much, if anything. So I am thinking I need to go ahead and swap out some hardware. Should I try my PSU? I have a like, 2019ish era Rm850x so I am trying to see what I should change this out for.
I executed HWINFO64 and retrieved the crash log from that moment. Unfortunately, it only exported to a CSV file, but I discovered a viewer for it. I haven’t spotted anything clearly unusual in the log yet, though I’m picking up some worrying signs. Even though most of my GPU temperatures were normal, it reported that my hotspot reached 95°C at the crash time. There are also some GPU power irregularities I’m not sure about. I’m still trying to figure out what exactly might be the cause.
Consider reducing the GPU speed or just checking for dust. Let's see if overheating is the issue.
