Hello. I recently assembled a new PC within the past two months and have encountered some problems. Periodically, once a day or so, all displays on my machine freeze, and shortly after they turn black. This occurs while not playing games—usually when browsing, for example, I can play RDR2 for hours before quitting and then experience a freeze after 30 minutes of YouTube. Additionally, the last time this happened, my audio played normally, and I was able to shut down the PC using the keyboard. In the reliability monitor, I see LiveKernelEvent 141 and LiveKernelEvent 1a1. Google hasn’t provided much clarity on what these codes mean. There’s no C/windows/minidump file generated during the incident. In the event viewer, there were two events: one where the driver amdwddmg stopped responding and later recovered, and another where program explorer.exe version 10.0.19041.1706 stopped interacting with Windows before closing. I’m uncertain if the driver failure caused the Explorer to hang. However, in this case, the PC audio remained functional while both screens lost signal. Specifications include an i512400f, Kingston FURY Beast DDR5 16GB 5200MHz CL40, MSI Z690 Pro Wi-Fi, RX6700 XT, 750W Seasonic FOCUS-GX-750, 80TB SAMSUNG SSD, Windows 10 64-bit, BIOS version 3.4. I’m trying to figure out if the issue lies in the motherboard, power supply, or GPU. Actions taken: I ran a memory test with Win Mem Diagnostics and the RAM appears intact. I performed GPU benchmarks using Furmark, 3DMark, and Unigine Heaven; all tests completed without freezing or black screens. This is puzzling since I was confident about the GPU. I’ve reinstalled and updated the GPU drivers multiple times, even downloaded the latest version from AMD. I’m unsure whether it’s the motherboard, PSU, or GPU itself. My suspicion leans toward the GPU, but benchmarks are passing, and I can play demanding games for extended periods without issues. If the driver is faulty, I don’t know how to fix it since reinstalling has already helped. I’ve attached WATCHDOG logs from 2022-05-13 and 2022-05-15.

Changed the HDMI cable to another one. The card supports 3DP and 1 HDMI. I don’t have another DP yet, so I’ll look for one. Edit: I found some .dmp files of livekernelevent that point to the AMD driver as the problem. I’ve reinstalled those drivers several times, so I think it might be a hardware issue. Could it be related to the motherboard?

Consider using an alternative program designed to remove display drivers, assuming it detects DDU. You might also try a BIOS update for the motherboard. If you have spare GPUs, testing them could help determine if the issue persists.

I installed the driver using DDU.

Did you remove the device in safe settings and then reinstall it there? If not, Windows will create its own driver which might lead to problems.

No, it was installed after Windows started. I’ll try again now, though I’m unsure if it will help.

I understand, but Windows remains Windows. We need to keep the variables in check.

You can explore a few options to investigate further.
Visit https://bluescreenview.en.softonic.com to access recent BSOD logs and identify the cause.
If nothing stands out, check https://www.hdtune.com for disk health insights.
Look for Interface CRC errors, possible SATA cable disconnections, and frozen PC behavior.
Also scan for bad sectors.
Next, use Eventviewer or filter Windows logs to find application-related issues and system warnings around the freezing events. This will provide detailed information about what might be happening with your computer.

Hi. There were no bsods, so no minidump files. I've attached 2 .dmp files from livekernelevent, both indicate an error with the video driver. I did the disk check, no bad sectors or other problems. Right now its 1 out of 3: gpu, psu, mobo. I suspect the psu, but I dont know if a psu can cause the black screen ( sometimes with sound still working ) or a faulty mobo/pci slot.
