PC Details: Processor: Ryzen 5 1600 Graphics: GTX 1080 Palit JetStream MOBO: ASRock ab350 PRO4 Memory: Crucial Ballistix Sport 2x8GB @ 3000MHz (XMP 2.0) Power Supply: XFX 650W (model not remembered) Operating System: ADATA SP920 OS Windows 10 21H2
Problem Summary: Hello. This has been an ongoing issue for a couple of years. Describing it precisely is tough. Occasionally, my machine halts while streaming, pauses videos (begins buffering on YouTube), lacks audio in games, and when I close the game window and return, I see a black screen with borders (full-screen play). I can't exit by clicking the 'x' button. After restarting, it launches but remains silent. Apart from that, the system doesn’t crash generally. For instance, during Adobe Illustrator work, I can complete projects without issues, but Spotify stops working. I can launch other apps, though the problem persists. What triggers the malfunction? It appears randomly sometimes. Sometimes right after turning on the PC (within 5 minutes, occasionally later), or after a few hours. Occasionally, after 12-15 hours of use, it functions normally. I tested under stress by opening multiple programs—Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Chrome (2 tabs), Edge, Spotify, Adobe apps, and even running Apex Legends. I could watch YouTube and listen to Spotify without trouble. Performance dropped slightly in games like GIMP, Chrome X2 (30-40 tabs), Edge, Spotify, Origin, and a few smaller programs. When launching Photoshop, it refused due to insufficient RAM, but the issue didn’t occur. I could play YouTube and listen to music smoothly. Sometimes it only happens when opening new applications—like games or browsers. It can last 2 minutes before returning to normal. After rebooting, a message appears about Task Host Window stopping background tasks. Fixes tried: System reinstallation, removing and reinstalling GPU and RAM, running MemTest x86, unplugging/plugging GPU cables, using DDU for hard uninstallation, multiple driver installs, updating chipset drivers to AMD 5.12.0.38 (08.03.2020). Temperatures and RAM are normal. What I attempted: Restarting the PC usually resolves it. Sometimes several reboots are needed—especially if it starts within 5 minutes. Occasionally, after a few hours, ending Chrome, the game (usually Apex Legends), and Spotify tasks in Task Manager helps. If the issue persists after that, rebooting may be necessary. What remains positive: CPU and GPU temps are stable, RAM is functioning (memtest passed).
What I tried to resolve: System reinstallation and hardware changes. The cause remains unclear. Please let me know if this helps anyone facing a similar situation. This is really frustrating."
