Issue involving BSOD, CPU ratio and XMP settings
Hello, here’s a summary of my PC setup: Intel 6700K processor, Asus Z270 motherboard, 8GB RAM, GSKILL Trident Z Royal 2X8GB, 3600 MHz CL, 18VGA, XFX RX 580, 16GB RAM.
I’ve been trying to fix a few issues for about a month:
- Updated drivers and reinstalled Windows, but nothing resolved the problem.
- RAM frequency is set to 3600 when XMP profile is active. CPU max/turbo reaches 4200 MHz, but cache runs at 4100 MHz.
- Random BSODs appear during games, and hardware failure warnings show up.
- When I turn off ASUS multicore enhancement in BIOS, everything works except Windows reports a max CPU frequency of 4000 MHz.
- Disabling XMP and setting tuning to auto with ASUS multicore enchantment fixes some things, but Windows forces the CPU to run at 3800 MHz, causing overheating.
- In Auto mode, disabling ASUS multicore enchantment works, but it sets the CPU frequency higher than 4.2, leading to heat issues.
In all cases, BIOS shows max or turbo frequencies at 4200 MHz, while Windows displays different values. I’m struggling to identify the root cause and need your advice.
