Issue encountered when trying to establish a monitor connection following game launch.
When launching any game, all my monitors briefly flicker before the main display goes black and displays a signal loss message. The other monitors freeze, showing only what was on them when the main screen lost connection. I also struggle to navigate the computer and must restart the system directly. This issue began yesterday after a year of no problems with my PC. I’m using an EVGA 2080 FTW super, i7 9700k, 32 GB RAM, and an EVGA 850W T2 power supply. All drivers are up to date, but an SFC scan still fails. Any advice that doesn’t require a fresh Windows 10 installation would be very helpful.
These types of problems usually involve heat and/or power issues. Are you increasing the speed of your CPU, GPU, or memory?
What are your CPU and GPU temperatures when not running and when under stress?
Have you made any changes recently that might be causing this?
My temperatures are steady at 35 C on both CPU and GPU, and under load they remain between 50-60.
My CPU is overclocked to 3.6 GHz, while my GPU maxes out at 4 GHz with no overclocking yet; it runs at 7000 MHz memory and 1650 MHz clock speed, using 50-55 W.
I installed Windows a day or two ago, and the GPU drivers were updated the previous day after that Microsoft web runtime was added with the update. Within the past five days nothing has changed.
When removing the GPU and utilizing the built-in video controller, the system functions as expected.
I tried various configurations and still faced the same problem. Changing the monitor didn't fix it, and even with different display adaptors and cables, the issue only appeared when the gaming monitor was active. Once I switched back to the original main display, the connection was restored but required a hard reset.
Good job identifying the problem with the display. Have you tested it on a different device to verify the issue?
Once I placed the monitor on my friend's setup, everything functioned flawlessly without any problems. I'm really confused about what's happening now.
