Issue encountered during upgrade from version w10 to w11
Hi there, welcome. I attempted to upgrade from version 10 to 11 and met all the requirements. Eventually, I encountered a blue screen without any code errors. The fix was to restart and access the boot menu, selecting the hidden boot device to continue the update. After installing version 11 each time I start my PC, I have to manually pick the correct boot device at launch, or it will automatically repair itself and keep showing the bluescreen. I tried adjusting the BIOS settings to set the boot device as a boot option, but it wasn’t available. How can I resolve this issue? It’s frustrating because I need to choose the boot device every time I turn on my PC. I’ve searched for solutions but haven’t found a reliable answer. Also, a clean installation of version 11 didn’t work since I have multiple projects and work files. Thank you for your help and time.
How serious is the issue? I switched back to w10 because of a feature Windows offers, but I'd prefer w11.
I think I'm going to make a backup, honestly I never considered that. Also, according to what I've heard, more people upgrade to version 11 instead of doing a clean install.
Updates generally work without issues. But there are exceptions. Occasionally, things don’t go as planned. Yes, storage devices fail. A few years ago, my SanDisk 960GB SSD died suddenly. I turned off the PC, waited ten minutes, and then tried to boot up... "Hey, where’s the G drive?" It was completely dead. Nothing I did would bring it back. After a couple of years, I had about 605GB of family photos stored on it—gone. The drive was replaced, and after about ninety minutes, all the data was recovered perfectly, just like it was at 4 AM that morning. Backups are similar to car insurance; you need to act quickly. Trying to recover data just before you need it is not effective.
