Issue encountered during the initial setup of Windows 8.
I received a brand new Windows 8 installation disk from my mom since I swapped out my motherboard. I thought getting free Windows 8 would be better than paying for Windows 7. However, whenever I try to install it from the disk onto any of my drives—whether a blank Samsung SSD or one of my WD Blacks—it only completes about 26% and then crashes, showing an error code suggesting either a corrupted copy or bad data. Anyone have ideas on how to fix this? You can check my post on the motherboars forums for more details.
I don’t have a flash drive running Windows. I attempted to install the disc onto it, but the software couldn’t detect the drive even though the UEFI BIOS did.
Ensure you have a USB drive or an empty DVD with a minimum of 4GB available space.
I believe you might have burned the disc yourself—consider installing it through a USB drive instead.
Determining if the disk is a genuine Windows 8 drive or a restore media from your Mums PC.
