Help required! Setting up a new PC for a younger family member with POST/Boot problems.
Spec -
Mobo - Asus TUF GAMING A620M-PLUS WIFI
CPU - Ryzen 5 7500F
GPU - RTX 4060 8GB
RAM - Kingston FURY Beast RGB 16GB 6000MHz DDR5
PSU - MSI MAG A550BN 550W 80+
Symptoms -
At first, it took a long time to reach the BIOS splash screen—about 1-2 minutes. Even the keyboard and mouse didn’t light up until this point. A suggestion was to enable Memory Context Restore in BIOS, which briefly helped and allowed Windows installation. However, restarting from within Windows failed; I needed to use the Power Button to shut down and restart again. Also, saving and continuing to boot from BIOS never worked—it required a full power-off and restart.
After updating to the latest BIOS version, the issue persisted but resolved during a complete cold boot. Sometimes after a short cold start, it reaches the BIOS screen almost instantly, though my keyboard and mouse still don’t light up until then.
I’ve checked that RAM is correctly seated and replaced it, as well as verified all power connectors.
What next steps should I try? Is this likely a faulty board? I’ve seen many discussions about POST/Boot issues on Asus AM5 boards.

Updated to the newest BIOS, the attempt succeeded though the problem remains unresolved. Are you using the latest BIOS for your motherboard? Did you reset the CMOS after confirming the update? Have you checked that the RAM is correctly seated in its slot and reconnected the power cables?

Reverting CMOS didn’t resolve the issue. It’s unclear why Windows fails to boot after exiting the BIOS or during a restart, yet works after a cold power-on. Post-restart, fans spin and lights appear but the keyboard and mouse remain dark.
