Hello, I’m facing a significant technical issue while playing World of Warcraft.
I believe the problem could lie with my PC, but it might also be related to my setup, Windows configuration, NVIDIA or AMD settings, or game preferences.
I use three monitors. The main one is a 55-inch TV with 120Hz, connected via HDMI cable to the graphics card. It supports HDR at 3840 x 2160 resolution.
The other two monitors are older Samsung 24-inch models with 60Hz, connected through HDMI cables with DVI-D extensions to the graphics card.
I’ve attempted to use only the primary monitor while disabling the others and switching cables, but it didn’t resolve the issue.
To clarify, I play various games such as League of Legends, Battlefield 2042, Counter-Strike, Hunt Showdown, and Mordhau.
There’s no consistent problem across all titles.
However, when World of Warcraft starts, even at low graphics settings (1/10), the game delivers very poor FPS.
In Dornagal or Orgrimmar, it drops below 60 FPS. It feels more like a PowerPoint presentation than an actual game.
I experience frequent micro-stutters in dungeons and crowded zones. This is quite bothersome.
I’ve tried adjusting graphics settings and disabling add-ons, but nothing helps.
Many articles, forum discussions, and YouTube videos have been checked, yet no solution has emerged.
I seriously suspect the issue might be with my primary PC setup.
Here are my specifications:
- ASUS ROG STRIX GeForce RTX 4090 O24GB White
- AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D
- G.SKILL 32GB DDR5 6000MHz CL30 Trident Z5 NEO AMD EXPO
- Gigabyte B650 GAMING X AX V2
- Samsung 980 PRO 2 TB - 2X+

I’ve tested another PC with a similar build, but with a different GPU and CPU, the performance remains the same. This suggests the problem might be with my monitor configuration rather than the game itself.
Could it be related to HDR mode or resolution scaling? I’m starting to feel overwhelmed.
All drivers are up to date, just like the BIOS.
I’d appreciate any assistance you can provide.

Check your network speed using SpeedTest while the game is running. WoW uses minimal GPU/CPU power, so it usually runs well. You might also consider deleting all game files and starting over. Poor game data can cause problems similar to what you're experiencing.

I share your view on this. WoW works well on a potato. Surprising that you're facing these problems. Maybe your monitor configuration is the issue?

I also play WoW sometimes, but I use my 48" OLED at 60hz in 4K since my eyes don’t notice any difference at 120hz. I’ve tried it too. Still, there are no issues keeping up with 60 fps even with the highest 10 Ultra settings.

What makes you run at 120hz? That’s possible, but I’m not sure. It definitely isn’t your CPU or GPU.
