Good day and happy Christmas! I’m facing some problems when posting with all four RAM modules or dual RAM. My motherboard only accepts one stick of RAM. I used to work fine with four sticks in air cooling (everything was normal with G.Skill RAM), but switched to a water-cooled setup using an EKWB monoblock and cooling the GPU as well. The issue is still happening.
I reset the CMOS, tried each stick separately—it only works with the one farthest from the CPU. I completely loosened all screws and started testing again. When I tried to move the mono block, it didn’t budge at all. I laid the PC flat, loosened every screw, and started tightening gradually up to a quarter turn. The C1 error still appears.
Could this be a CPU problem or an issue with the motherboard? (Especially after removing the back plate and VRAM heat sink for the monoblock?) Any advice on what might be causing this? Also, note: both dual RAM sticks and four sticks cause the same C1 error.
Aorus Z390 Master w/ I9-9900k Manual book shows Code: C0-CF (Reserved). Not present at first. Checking from the RAM slot furthest from CPU, banks 1 & 2 loaded successfully into Windows. Banks 3 & 4 triggered C1 error.
The XMP or memory overclocks are turned off in the BIOS. It's possible the slots 3 and 4 stopped working during the cooling process. Some users have switched to using RMAs with this setting. If you have a warranty, you might want to contact the manufacturer.
I broke everything down and began testing with a basic Corsair H60. All mem RAM loaded correctly. For the vertical GPU setup, I learned about potential post problems. I tried without a GPU, with a normal GPU mount, and with vertical positioning. Windows booted fine. It seems the issue was with the mono block. I’m really unsure about reusing that mono block.
I'm using the EK-Momentum Aorus Z390 Master D-RGB - Plexi for content purposes. While inspecting the block, I saw a screw sticking out on top of the VRAM. If anything, this might affect cooling the VRAM and keep the monoblock level. To secure it properly, I need to loosen it, which could lead to water problems. Your thoughts would be appreciated.
