Hello, im kinda new at this and may be wrong on a bunch of stuff, i just learned a bunch of things tonight trying to solve my problems but nothing worked. I was recently subcsribed to TELUS which gave me 20mbp/s of service a month for a dsl connection (not much but i live alone) but they had so much problems maintaining connectivity that i decided to switch ISP's to NORTHWESTEL internet that gave me 100mbp/s of bandwidth on a cable modem. i also used my old router for my dls connection to my cable modem. Anyways now i have 5x the speed of internet that i had before but theres one problem, im a heavy gamer and ping is everything to me, even though i get fast internet speeds my latency seems to be really abnormal like i get 200ms on almost all my games, i figure it had something to do with my new ip address that my ISP gave me but i really cannot figure out what the problem is. i also noticed that when i play APEX LEGENDS or VALORANT , the server options they give me to connecting to games are different now and also have different pings like the OREGON 1 servers i used for valorant before gave me 70-80 ping now gives me 200 ping same with apex with same servers and the server list completely changed, like my location has been moved or something that they wont allow me to connect to my usual servers at regular ping, also when i do a speed test in speedtest.net it connects me to a city 1500km away from me to test the speeds. it's like my ip address has some problems in it but i really cannot figure out why. Download speeds reach 100MB/s instantly, yet maintaining a steady 70 ping is challenging, with performance dropping below 200.

Check if it's hardwired or connected via Wi-Fi. Identify the router model. Test by connecting a direct Ethernet cable from your PC to the modem. Perform additional checks.
