I was setting up an AIO on a friend's PC with a 5900x and X-570 board. While cleaning the CPU, I didn’t remove it from the socket, possibly leaving some isopropyl alcohol inside. After reassembling everything and trying to power it on, nothing happened. When I took it out, the alcohol was clearly visible. The board still seemed fine, but there was no smoke or smell of burning. Did the motherboard or CPU get damaged?

Isopropyl alcohol seems to be doing nothing effectively. It might have diluted another substance, like a thermal paste, and the leftover particles are affecting its performance.

If it's pure, it will turn into vapor and leave no residue. Any substance nearby that dissolves might shift as well. Thermal paste isn't an issue here.

If isolation on the pins works, it should function properly. Just wipe the area with isopropyl alcohol and let it dry.

It varied based on how diluted it was; I’d remove the CPU, let it air-dry under a fan, and retry.

What level of purity iPrOH did you employ? I would never use anything below 90% purity for electronics.
