It suits the features you need, but whether it's sufficient for boosting your CPU to 4.2ghz or 4.5ghz depends on other factors.

I own the board, and the 4690k has been with me for two years without any problems. It reached up to 4.6, but the temperatures... I'm not sure if it was due to power or cooling, but I lowered it back to the current settings and it barely gets hotter than the original.

the mobo features a 4 phase power layout, suitable for around 4.3 unless you aim for higher performance, in which case consider upgrading to models like the Z97-A

If you're targeting 4.5ghz, I recommend getting the Z97-A as suggested by tradesman. I use a Core i5 4690K at 4.5ghz (1.235v) with a Z97-A and it performs very well.

If it resembles the Z97M-Plus, it should work without problems when running a 4690k at 4.5ghz, provided the chip can achieve that speed.

Where I live the Z97-P costs 83€, while the Z97-A is 160€. I can choose:
Asus Z97-P (83€)
Asus Z97-E (113€)
MSI Z97S SLI Krait (120€)
Other ASRock and Gigabyte options are available, but they aren't recommended for overclocking.

Johnpchekz shared his experience with the 4690k, noting stable performance at 4.4 for two years without problems. He mentions reaching up to 4.6 but questions whether temperature issues stem from power or cooling. He asks about the recommended cooler. Hyper 212 was suggested.
