Hi, I got a used Razer Blade Pro 17 from about two years ago (the 2020 model). The old owner said she only used it for Zoom calls. Here are some specs: when I first opened the laptop and turned it on to charge, it would stop charging after about ten minutes or so. It would then say "charging" but actually be sitting in battery mode instead of draining power. After a few more minutes, it would start charging again, repeat this back and forth cycle, until eventually it drained down to 68%. Razer Support told me that an internal circuit makes this happen to protect the battery, but they said it hurts gaming because my FPS dropped from 140 to 60 and I started stuttering all the time.

But here is the funny thing: I used the laptop on battery until it got down to 68%. Then I plugged it in, and suddenly nothing happened! It didn't charge at all. I left it sitting there for two days using it just for normal stuff and gaming, and the battery stayed stuck at 68%. After two days, finally started charging but stopped right at 88%, then took a few hours to go back up to 100% before starting that weird cycle again.

When I checked with HWinfo, the battery wear level only showed as 5.5% left. And what else is funny? The laptop charges fine on an official ROG 100W USB-C adapter. Even though Razer sold me a new 230W power brick hoping it was the charger that broke things, nothing worked either way. I even did a clean reinstall and updated all drivers, but the problem kept coming back.

Razer Support asked to send it back for repair, but I wasn't available there personally. So now I'm asking you guys: have you ever seen this happen with Razer gear? Did anyone find a fix? And if you think I was wrong about everything else, what would be the best way to get this fixed without needing to send the laptop away?

Razor Blade Pro 17 (2020) - Intel i7-10875H, NVIDIA RTX 2070 Super, Max-Q graphics, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD. All parts are brand new and original.

Hey there, that kind of battery behavior usually means the battery is dying (some of its cells). The best thing to do is find a replacement. You can easily get them online. If they told you to RMA' it, just go ahead. They might replace it for free.

Got that idea too, that the battery isn't really in great shape because of how it was used before. Yeah, sending it back through RMA could work, even though we are out of warranty. Any good replacements online? I know some have ships around the world, but when I search for them, they look like scammers. Thanks for being so helpful, and I really appreciate your response.

Do you have something like this in your town? There is a link to the laptop batteries shop here: https://www.laptopbatteries.ie/?gad...LF...gUQAvD_BwE You could also look at an MSI battery seller who can fix or return things. They often work as partners with each other.

Maybe it won't work there in Southeast Asia, but I'm still trying to figure out how to get help from you guys. Thanks for listening!

I found a really good battery shop and bought a third-party replacement. The charger worked fine for about 20 minutes, starting from 50% up to 65%. Then the problem started happening again. It stopped charging at 65%, so I had to wait for it to charge once more.
