Hey everyone, welcome! Just wanted to share what happened with my PC. Yesterday it froze while gaming. After turning it off and on again, the screen stayed black even though the fans were loud. I tried unplugging it for a bit and then trying to boot it back up. That didn’t work. When I removed one stick, it started working again.

My system has 32GB of RAM made up of two 16GB DDR4 2133Hz G-Skill Ripjaws V sticks. I swapped the slots to focus on one stick and after that, my motherboard was making loud beeps. I tested different slots to confirm it wasn’t the board itself. I checked for a faulty stick using Windows Memory Diagnostic and ran it with and without the problematic stick. The error message appeared when the faulty stick was present. After removing it, the issue disappeared.

Now I have 16GB of RAM. It’s enough for most tasks, but I often run 3D applications that need more memory. I’m curious if the RAM isn’t using its full speed when not running in parallel. Also, I couldn’t find any single sticks of this exact model online—it seems only available in pairs at certain speeds.

I’m not sure what to do next. I don’t want to waste money on another 32GB kit when I already have 16GB. I read that mixing RAM is a bad idea, even with the same brand and timing. My RAM has a CL15-15-15-36 timing. If you know of any EU shops selling single sticks, especially for this speed, it would help. Thanks in advance for any advice!

I'm not sure about the warranty details, but an RMA might work. If it happens to be a coincidence, you could possibly locate a used item on eBay.

That's correct. You can purchase a single 1x16 GB 3200MHz stick. It will operate at the slower 2133MHz speed of the other stick. See: https://de.pcpartpicker.com/product/VcTr...0c16s16gvk

I don’t have the original packaging left, so I’m unsure if the warranty would apply. Taking a different Ripjaws V 16GB stick with another speed should work then? If so, I might try it out again. From what I described, it seems the RAM stick is indeed dead. I’m still clinging to the hope that it could be fixed.
