Is your PC sufficient for the Quest 3 PCVR?
I’m keen to purchase a VR headset but need to confirm if my PC can handle VR. In particular, I’m considering the Quest 3. I understand the resolution is decent, but I’m unsure. I came across a benchmark using my card, which was with a Rift S, and it worked well. I just want to ensure I can run games smoothly at 72fps to 80fps.
Funny, the article I used those specifications from was just released in October 2023.
It's going to be quite challenging for anyone to provide an answer because no details or examples were given.
These are the baseline requirements.
Processor: Intel i5-4590 or AMD Ryzen 5 1500X or similar
RAM: 8GB or higher
Graphics card: GTX 1060 (6GB) or better
Alternatively, mid-range specs are acceptable:
Processor: Recent 6-core Intel Core i5 or equivalent AMD Ryzen 5 chip for demanding VR tasks
Graphics card: NVIDIA GTX 1060 or AMD Radeon RX 480 with at least 6GB RAM, enabling advanced rendering and effects
System RAM: 16GB to support OS needs and gaming performance
Both options meet or surpass these standards, so it should work well.
I don't think the mid tier specifications truly capture today's VR scene. Back then, we mainly played games like Robo Recall on an Oculus Rift with 1080x1080 displays. Nowadays, titles such as Quest 3 run on 2064x2208 screens and include games like Bonelab, Blade & Sorcery, and Half Life: Alyx.
It's amusing that the article I used those specifications from was just released in October 2023.
