Is your motherboard showing signs of failure?
Hello! I’ve been facing some unusual problems with my PC lately. It began with the VR Link cable triggering a “USB power surge” error—no connection or charging occurred. Using USBTreeViewer, I identified the AMD USB 3.20 eXtensible Host Controller as the problematic port. After reinstalling drivers and restarting, it worked briefly. Later, when trying to use it again, the system crashed and my headset battery dropped from 35% to 20% in minutes (possibly unrelated but odd). My phone also stopped charging properly, only accepting a few seconds before stopping. Out of three USB-C ports on my motherboard, two cut off power after a short time. I’ve also noticed GPU issues: temperatures spiked by 5–15°C during heavy use, even with undervolting. During games, it would crash, freeze, or black screen as if the GPU reset. Benchmarks showed the GPU hotspot still reached 100°C despite undervolting. In MSI Afterburner, increasing fan speed made little difference—previously loud fans now barely cooled. I’m concerned about potential short circuits since both USB and GPU problems emerged around the same time. Any suggestions on possible causes or troubleshooting steps?
