I made several mistakes today. While adjusting the BIOS, the computer failed to boot and kept restarting in a loop. I looked for ways to reset the BIOS settings. Initially, I removed the CMOS battery and powered it on to reset. That didn’t help, so I discovered you could use Q-Flash with a USB stick to update the BIOS without installing RAM or CPU in the motherboard. After flashing, the PC started but didn’t POST, showing the CPU light. I tried replacing the CPU, but now it won’t power on at all. I disassembled everything step by step to narrow down the issue, removing components except the 24 and 8 pins in the hope the RGB light would activate. I reset the BIOS again, hoping to regain power, but it still didn’t work. I’m unsure if the motherboard was damaged; I suspect a CMOS battery issue, though I’m not sure. I don’t have a way to test parts individually. My system specs are: MOBO – Gigabyte B550 Aorus Pro V1.0, AMD Ryzen 3700X, Sapphire Radeon 5600XT, 16 GB DDR4.
You disconnected the power source and pressed the reset button to reinitialize the BIOS using that procedure.
I shut off the power source and removed it from the wall outlet.
