Is your HDD starting to fail?
Is your HDD starting to fail?
Hello there! I purchased this Seagate HDD (Model ST2000DX002) mainly to cut costs on my build. It was marketed as a budget option, but over the past five years I’ve seen many users report reliability issues and lower scores in real-world tests. Since it’s a short-term purchase, I was hoping it would last. However, things changed when I checked its status using CrystalDiskInfo. The report showed some red flags, especially in the "Realocated Sectors" section, which I’m not sure means anything yet. I haven’t seen any crashes or strange noises, but I’ve been running it nonstop in a hot room with a box fan set to maximum. I also have a 3-year data recovery plan for it. I bought it around September 2020 and took a few months to assemble the system. The drive came with air-filled padding, which might help, but I’m still worried about its health. Could I safely use it as a backup now? Or should I wait and consider a better replacement? Thanks for your help!
