Sure, I’m keen on exploring alternatives to traditional WiFi router sellers. Having studied IT in college, I feel confident handling it—even setting it up myself many times. Do you think these setups perform well? We live in a larger house and want coverage both inside and outside the yard. Adding another access point should be straightforward, especially with a controller.
Reply to myself for more info: so when I say controller I am referring to Dream Machine Pro. So I looked it up and the router, switch(No POE in it though...) and firewall is in that. It also can sorta act as a file server with that hard drive slot which could be useful as we want security cameras at a later point when we get money for it. So Dream Machine Pro, and a Switch with POE I would need and then I could also get two APs(maybe the lite ones) to put at both ends of our house. That DreamMachine Pro does increase the cost, but I think I understand what it does more and it is neat. I like networking and find it interesting and considered having more dedicated hardware and my own server for performance and also just for fun

I recommend familiarizing yourself with PoE standards to clarify the needs of your client devices. The UAP-AC-Lite needs 24V 802.3af passive PoE, while the U6-Lite requires 48V 802.3af passive PoE. If you opt for UniFi PoE switches, verify their capabilities before purchasing. Using PoE injectors is also a viable option.
