if games run smoothly and stability is maintained, keep using 1.35. the 1.44 figure from MSI seems to expect the worst-case performance on chips, it will also cause the chip to wear out and limit the MMO capacity within two years, it's not mainly about CPU temperatures above 1.4v
Preferably anything below 1.4v... I usually don't run at 14nm above 1.5v without liquid. Good rig setup.
Hey there, everything okay? Might try a custom liquid cooling setup next time, especially after upgrading the CPU again. It’s been a bit of a rollercoaster—spent quite a bit on upgrades, but after about a month and a few hundred pounds, I ended up selling my 1660 Ti GPU for 200 pounds. Then I upgraded to the 2080 and think it’ll really speed things up now.
5/5.1ghz is exactly what you need. You can push up to 5.2/5.3ghz using higher voltage liquid cooling, but for regular use 5ghz works well. It helps maintain lower temperatures and voltages, which reduces wear. You probably won’t see significant gains beyond 9600K, unless you add more cores or threads. Most modern 14nm chips run pretty consistently at this speed.
The manual provides solid information, though I think it omits the final section. You’d be surprised how often we need to check your voltage and temperatures. The pictures in the manual display 9900K at 5GHz with 86°C and 1.28V during Cinebench. As mentioned, if you’re comfortable gaming at those high voltages, that’s fine—your hardware handles it. Most users just focus on clocks and volts for regular use, even if they push the limits for better benchmark results. They also run stress tests that are far more intense than any game.
I adjusted the settings yesterday to 1.350v and it worked much better. Previously, at 1.42v with a 1660ti, it was stable but required higher voltage. Now it runs smoothly at lower voltage with my 2080.
