Is this safe or not ?
I recently purchased a couple of second-hand items, and during one of them, the CPU developed a few bent pins. While bending it back, I accidentally broke one off. It looks like that pin is relatively simple to replace, but I’ve seen videos and thought it might not be straightforward, just in case I mess up another three while reinstalling. Instead of trying to reinsert it, if I decide never to remove the CPU from the motherboard again, could I place the pin directly into the socket? Where should it go, obviously, and just rely on strong mounting pressure? And what if, after five years, I forget about it and want to take the CPU out—does this motherboard still work or is it beyond repair?
It's unlikely the loose pin will fit, and trying to remove it is nearly impossible. I highly suggest fixing it yourself or getting professional help.
Ouhkaay I won’t fuck with it lol I have the pin in a baggie and I will hopefully find someone that might be able to help , or I’ll just get the proper tools when I actually have the chance . Thank you
it's the same CPU and I'm pretty sure it's the same board. I'm almost sure it's just a ground pin since it's close to the edge. When I tested it with the power supply from the person, the computer started up but didn't show anything on the screen. After about 45 seconds it shut down on its own. Is this normal if I don’t get any output? I haven’t experienced this before. I assumed the shutdown might be due to the power supply, and since my board has an 8-pin CPU, the only other compatible power supply I have is an 8-pin graphics card. Does that matter? I also tried another board with an 8-pin CPU that worked fine—lights flashed briefly before it stopped. That CPU was reported as dead, so maybe it’s just a test issue or something I didn’t notice. Before I plug anything in incorrectly, I might end up damaging something.
