Hello everyone,
I’m a completely new PC builder and this is my first time putting together a custom system. I’ve only used Intel components before, so I’m really unsure about what I’m doing. Everything I know is from Intel boards, and I’m not familiar with AMD BIOS settings.
Here’s what I have planned:
- Case: Montech Air 100 ARGB mATX
- Motherboard: Gigabyte B650M D3HP AX AM5 DDR5
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 7600X
- Cooler: Cooler Master 240mm AIO ARGB
- RAM: Kingston Fury Beast 32GB DDR5
- GPU: Gigabyte RTX 4070 Windforce OC V2
- Storage:
- Patriot P300 256GB M.2 NVMe PCIe 3.0 x4 (Boot Drive)
- Kingston NV2 2TB M.2 PCIe 4.0 x4 NVMe SSD (Game Drive)
- Power Supply: 750W Corsair RMe 80+ Gold Fully Modular
- Operating System: Windows 11 Home (intending to purchase a USB copy from the MS Store)
Some notes:
I’ve read that installing W11 on this motherboard might be tricky, especially if I’m using a copy from the MS Store. There are warnings about disabling the CSM setting potentially blocking USB boot.
I’m wondering:
- Which drivers would I need to install?
- Are there any BIOS safeguards to help fix setup errors?
- Should I update the BIOS to support the AMD Ryzen 5 7600X?
Setting up Windows 11 on this machine should be smooth. After a successful installation, obtain chipset and video drivers from AMD and Nvidia directly. Keep the BIOS unchanged and Windows will install without problems.
You can get Win 11 from Microsoft and store it on your USB drive. Just ensure you have a valid license from a trustworthy provider, such as Microsoft.

Updating the BIOS on the motherboard isn’t necessary for using that CPU. You can update later if desired, but it’s straightforward.

Please verify if the USB copy of Windows from the MS Store functions properly and boots without issues, considering your internet speed limits downloads. Also, determine the timing for enabling Secure Boot or TPM 2.0, and confirm whether it should be set up prior to installation.
The MS store version should function perfectly. I'm aware there are no problems with that.
These configurations are likely already active in the standard BIOS settings. No further action is required.
The motherboard offers a reasonable level of upgradability, allowing for various components to be added or replaced as needed.
Are you considering increasing performance beyond normal limits? For many users, this isn't a major concern.
5+2+2 VRM delivers around 160W, sufficient for most systems except the 16-core Ryzen. The 7600x/7700x model draws approximately 65W, while the 7900x reaches up to 160W.

PSU: Corsair RMe Series 750W 80+ Gold Modular PSU
The items I still need to purchase are:

GPU: Gigabyte GeForce RTX 4070 Windforce OC V2
