I was checking out deals on AliExpress and found this motherboard setup that really caught my eye—it had an Xeon E5 2420 with six cores and twelve threads, a motherboard, and 8GB DDR3 ECC RAM for $55. It seemed like a great offer compared to local prices in my country. I’m interested in your thoughts on it, but I want to make sure I’m making the right choice before purchasing. Also, the shipping is free, and here’s the link: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/33029748...4c4dJFgbjU. This is my first post on LinuxTechTips, so I might make a few mistakes.

Absolutely, I agree—it looks really great. It might be smarter to choose something proven instead of taking a chance with something uncertain.

It’s probably accurate. The unit is a 1356 Xeon from 2012 with a refurbished board. AliExpress is fairly controlled, and such items are essentially outdated. They’ve offered similar products for some time.

It looks like there might be some validity to the claim, though purchasing second-hand components from platforms like AliExpress carries inherent risks. The E5 2420 isn’t particularly strong—while it has six cores, it only operates at 1.9GHz.
