Is this MSI Afterburner showing my graphics card using too much electricity?
I have a GTX 1080 Ti gaming card. I set my power cap to 117 percent with a core clock offset of +85 and memory clock offset of +500. One test showed the actual power going up past my limit, hitting about 121 percent instead. My hardware report says the max power is 330 watts, but I'm seeing 342 watts being used because of that extra little bit. Is this normal? Why does the card ignore my cap? Will this hurt the card in any way? It looks like a few extra watts but it worries me. Thanks for reading.
I see my card works well enough for some games. It's just weird when it doesn't work as expected though. I tried asking that on the EVGA forum but nobody really had a good idea there either. Is anyone else trying this out? I'm hoping someone knows more than me about this.
