Others noted steam offers an offline option. When a game might require an online link to start but not for actual play, the only solution would be to run a non-standard version of the game. Though such unofficial adaptations have a negative image, in situations where you're using one to bypass the strict always-on DRM some titles employ, it can be considered acceptable.
