Is this a good pc? (Beginner)
Hello! As a newcomer to PC gaming, I’ve primarily played on Xbox consoles throughout my gaming history. I'm considering an upgrade and understand that purchasing a used or prebuilt PC is often a more cost-effective choice than buying a brand-new one from stores like Best Buy. Here’s the system specifications:
Graphics card – $400 value
- MSI R9 380 4GB graphics card
- EVGA 750w G2 Gold power supply unit
- Toshiba 2TB Hard Disk Drive
- Mushkin Silverline 8GB PC3-10666 RAM
- ASRock FM2A88M Pro3+ Motherboard
- AMD Athlon X4 860K Black Edition Quad Core CPU (3700MHz)
- Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo Heatsink
- 3x E-Sport red LED fans
I’d appreciate expert advice regarding whether this PC will adequately handle the games I enjoy – specifically titles like Rainbow Six Siege and Red Dead Redemption, focusing primarily on first-person shooter gameplay. I also have a new monitor. Thank you for your assistance.
This represents an appropriate configuration for someone starting out. However, there’s a key issue: the Mushkin Silverline 8GB PC3-10666 RAM is operating at 1333MHz, whereas the x4 860K utilizes 2133MHz without any adjustments. Employing slower memory will result in diminished performance. It's essential to configure memory settings within the BIOS, specifically: memory clock speed, DRAM timings, and DRAM voltage.
