The magic of the Internet is explained with the setup on my laptop. One mouse and keyboard are connected, but only the keyboard uses a number port. Also, USB devices can have multiple drives—composite means it registers the device, while input is for the actual one. This isn't coming from my keyboard but a non-USB device like a webcam.

the usb serial number is a feature of windows systems... unless it's a usb drive, it might show random codes or nothing at all. windows decides what to display, and usb drives usually store their serial numbers there so they can be recognized as drive letters.
the usb composite setup is quite typical... it acts like a single receiver that connects several devices. these can include usb flash drives, which may contain device drivers or background apps that download drivers or control them via i2c. essentially, a usb device can have multiple functions working together simultaneously.
