Is there anything else you need regarding this power supply?
Is there anything else you need regarding this power supply?
there is that drama queen again
practical experience means everything actually
and i would not consider my advice to be bad either .
this puts smile on my face because it shows that you are judging me
without knowing anything about me or my policy .
a.) i can run the setup like this because i have knowledge and also spare parts at home
if something goes wrong
also i got this unit on a black friday sale for like 30-35 bucks
which was too good of a deal to pass on at a time ...
(by the way it works flawlessly even with an overclocked 5700x)
b.) i would never advice to a customer or a random person on the forum to put evga GD 600 together with higher end gpu and cpu in their system (when it comes to this i follow the rule "don´t try this at home kids" )
if you check some of my older posts you will actually notice i play it fairly safe when it comes to psu recommendations (often advising to get a higher wattage unit than the customer or a forum member actually needs when it comes to new systems or upgrading from an older unit)
c.) corsair RMx is not a mediocre unit and the OP already has it at home
(but you suggest he should throw away this A or A- tier 2 years old unit ,
open his wallet and waste another 100-150 bucks)
if you go to these extreme conditions you should also mention that A tier units
can also go well above their rated specs (for a short period of time) ,
in RMx products they can usually go up to
120-125% of their rated power before any protections are triggered
namely in 650 RMx unit this would mean it shuts down somewhere around 800w
(which this system will never draw)
also those 645w that you have caltulated are miliseconds only scenarios with power spikes and
not a typical sustained gaming power draw or a 24/7 operation power draw of this system
(the rest of the system will also not draw 100w of power -more like closer to 50w)
(you also forgot the OP undervolted his video card
which will reduce the power draw even further) .
furthermore during gaming you will very rarely (if ever)
put a 100% stress load on both the gpu and cpu simultaneously - these are stress tests scenarios mostly .
yes 100-200w headroom under load is needed which this PSU will provide ...
I purchased a Seasonic Focus GX-750-750W - 80+ Gold last couple of weeks... It costs $119 in the US, which is a bit more than what you might expect. However, upon inspecting this PSU, I found it to be of excellent quality—even the paint looks great and it feels heavy, which is a positive sign. It also received very high ratings on review platforms, and it comes with a 10-year warranty. It’s not an inexpensive option, but you get what you pay for.
