Whenever discussions about Star Wars games arise, people rarely reference Star Wars Galaxies (the MMO prior to Star Wars: The Old Republic).
I only played during the NGE era (Next Generation Enhancements), which is often seen as the time when Star Wars Galaxies lost its appeal, tried to mimic World of Warcraft, and saw a significant drop in players.
I've also used SWGemu, which simulates an older version of Star Wars Galaxies and remains accessible after the game's shutdown, offering a much better experience than the NGE iteration.

I think you can still enjoy that game in both pre-NGE and NGE versions, as long as you have the original copy.
Some community or non-profit servers were set up recently, but it’s unclear if they’re still active—you’d need a patch to join them.
My idea was that the old version let you become the top crafter without fixed character choices, but I’ve made mistakes before.
