The excitement around the 9070xt launch at $599 faded as the card price rose to $800-$900. Is there still a similar feel now?

This topic revolves around various options; https://pcpartpicker.com/products/video-...&c=589,592. Nvidia has likely addressed their driver problems, while AMD's drivers tend to improve over time, allowing better performance from their hardware. Additionally, reviewers have noted that the RX 9070 XT and RTX5070Ti perform similarly, making it a good choice depending on your budget—opt for the cheaper option if you prefer AMD's card, or vice versa for Nvidia's. Of course, it's clear to state that aligning with your intended GPU choice is key, rather than going against it.

It varies depending on your location. The most affordable 9070XT costs 140 euros less than the cheapest 5070ti, but if you compare models similar to Gigabyte, the gap exceeds 200 euros. Of course, the Gigabyte 9070XT is priced higher than the cheapest 5070ti, making a clear correct answer difficult.

Occasionally you need to keep an eye on discounts too. I’m based in the USA and bought my 9070xt from a Microcenter store for $700. Back then, the cheapest 5070ti was $825, so naturally I went for the 9070xt. Now the 9070xt is selling for $800, which seems to be the higher-end models. However, when I received my card, it appears they had a restock happening because their website started listing more than 25 of the ones I bought before the weekend. In short, if you truly want a cheaper option, you might have to wait and see. You might not land on the MSRP, but at least I ended up under the 5070ti price. If the difference had been just $50, I probably would have chosen the Nvidia card instead. For me, it was lucky they were back in stock. There are deals out there—just be ready to act when you spot one.

If you choose to move to Linux (SteamOS/Bazzite) with an AMD GPU, the AMD drivers receive the most support. Alternatively, Nvidia and Intel drivers work well on Linux as well.

Because if you don’t, they might abandon gaming cards entirely and shift attention to Nvidia’s AI cards… and genuine price competition will likely be absent in the near future regarding GPUs.
