Hello, I observed that the power plug of my surge protectors becomes slightly warm. I checked after this post.
The parts list includes the Brennenstuhl Protect-Line 2 USB Surge Protector, and besides the PC and monitor, only a Wi-Fi router is connected to it.
I measured the monitor's power usage at about 65 watts, the router between 5-20 watts, and wondered if this setup with a 850 watt PSU could cause the plug or outlet to get warm, and whether that is typical?
Also, it feels warm even when the PC is off.

If the surge protector becomes warm, it signals that it needs repair or replacement. They don’t last indefinitely.
A connected blog discusses typical surge protector issues and how electricians address them.

I examined it after using it for a while and noticed the outlet and plug heating up. I removed the plug and observed signs of overheating—no black marks, but clear indicators. After turning off the PC, I heard a loud click from the outlet side. It turned out to be a faulty outlet that we replaced once because it was overheating. The issue might be more serious, possibly involving contacts, and requires a proper replacement. I changed the outlet now and will check if the problem is indeed with the outlet, not just the surge protector or PC.

When the power cables are worn or excessively hot, this may be the cause. This can occur with aluminum wiring but is less likely with copper. If the computer is powered off and unplugged yet the outlet remains warm and there are two pairs of wires present, it could indicate another circuit is being fed through the wall.
