Is there any good advice for building a system with an RX 9060 XT?
Is there any good advice for building a system with an RX 9060 XT?
I have a budget of around €1200 to work with. My German friend uses our Discord server and plays on his laptop sometimes (he goes by Delta Force). He's currently using a laptop, but the power supply unit needs improvement even though he has a tight budget. I need wifi for this setup. I'm hoping that the 16GB version of that card won't go over €400. If it does, I might upgrade to a 750W psu and add an RX 7700 XT. Here are some links to products:
ASUS B650E Max Gaming WIFI for €159,90
AMD Ryzen 5 7500F for €135.16
ID-COOLING FROZN A620 PRO ARGB for €34,90
ADATA XPG Lancer Blade DDR5-6000 with 32GB RAM for €98,99
Lexar NM710 2TB M.2 SSD for €102,89
FSP VITA GD 650W power supply for €62,73
Montech Air 903 MAX for €63,90
Microsoft Windows 11 Home for €36,00
AOC 24G42E monitor for €99,00
Without a graphics card: €793.47
You don't need an ID-COOLING FROZN A620 to cool your 7500F. Simply grab a Deepcool AG500 and add a better fan that will take over the original spot. Then, slide the old fan into the back of the case to let heat escape out there.
I would change that power supply. The GD version is a smaller cut-down model than the GM, comes with half the warranty coverage, and has worse internal parts. Don't cheap out on it; instead, grab this link: https://geizhals.de/fsp-vita-gm-850w-atx...at&hloc=de. The price gap between the 650W and 850W Vita GM models is just seven bucks, so why choose the lower wattage version when you'll be stuck with limited future upgrades anyway?
check out Geizhals for that cool DEEP COOL AG500 at these prices.
I just noticed that the FSP PSU only has a 5 year warranty. How about this one? https://geizhals.de/thermaltake-toughpow...16807.html
Another choice that isn't the best yet, but you could switch to a ryzen 8400f. It looks pretty cheap and can be swapped later on. Especially if you use it with a 9060xt I would guess it works fine. Just one option. https://geizhals.de/amd-ryzen-5-8400f-10...89847.html
i see two versions of this thing, i guess one comes shipped with you. people are confused which OEM makes it because there are two options and neither works well for me. the best case is just a small GF A3, but personally i'd avoid these power supplies right now since you already have an 80 euro unit on your system. it's better to pay those less than 20 euros extra and get a better one. if i had been forced to use cheap stuff before in budget builds, this was my favorite before version 3.0: https://geizhals.de/adata-xpg-pylon-750w...at&hloc=de here is a review - https://www.techpowerup.com/review/adata...0-w/3.html this thing can give more than 1000w before it turns off and the build quality is decent enough for that kind of setup. i always told users this PSU isn't recommended, but make sure you understand we are cutting down costs on your order. that being said i never had one break while using it personally. i'd still get about 7500f over 8400f, and it runs faster in both single and multiple tasks, plus it has PCIe 5.0 connections with 24 usable lanes instead of just 16 on the 8400F model and 16 lanes for 8400f itself. it also comes with 32mb of L3 cache compared to 16mb and boosts higher performance right out of the box (with PBO turned on, basically like a Ryzen 7600X).
This leaves the kid about €400 for a graphics card that works. They are linking to some deals: one from ASUS with an Xbox Series X console included for only €159.90, another from AMD with a Ryzen 5 processor for just over €135, and yet another from ID-COOLING FROZN that costs around €34.90. The kid also wants to add some RAM, so they found an ADATA memory stick set for about €98, and a Lexar SSD for nearly €103. To make sure everything stays cool, they picked up a 900-watt power supply for roughly €64. They are on Windows 11 Home, which costs €36, and an AOC monitor that is around €99. So far, the total comes to about €825 without the graphics card. The kid needs to decide between a high-end RTX card or something like a Radeon RX 7700 XT for just under €400, and finally, they found a power supply from ADATA that fits their needs.
9060xt with 16gb is a great choice - it has better FSR and RT, uses less power, more VRAM, and basically the same game performance. I'm paying almost 400€ for an old mid-range card and don't think that's worth it right now. If this price were true, I'd be hunting for an RTX 4070 on the second-hand market instead.
