Is there an issue with Update KB5063878?
It appears to be more severe than anticipated. It might be wise to delay updates until the update team releases another fix.
I've consistently relied on the manufacturer's firmware, while others are reportedly switching to Microsoft's crashware.
This glitch appears to only affect the Windows Reset feature and the Fix Problems via Windows Update feature. I don't see any indication that this glitch affects backups, even those taken with Windows Backup, and certainly not with third-party backup and imaging tools.
TBH Windows Reset is of only very minor use in any case. It's absolutely useless when trying to fix most crashes and BSODs. That's because 99.9% of crashes and BSODs are caused by third-party drivers and hardware, not by Windows. The Windows Reset feature only refreshes the Windows libraries, existing third-party drivers (that are the most likely cause of your problem) are reused ASIS.
That being the case I rather think that impact of this glitch is minor and certainly not a reason for KB5063878 to be uninstalled.
