Throughout my experience assembling PCs, this model has consistently been a source of frustration. Here are the details of my system:
Windows 11 Pro
Gigabyte Z790 Aorus Elite AX
Intel i9-13900K (no longer needed)
GeForce RTX 3080 TI
64GB G.Skill Ripjaw S5 DDR5-6000
Corsair RM1000x PSU
Before reaching this current challenge, I built my machine in 2023. Over the past nine months or so, I've encountered frequent "out of memory" errors while attempting to run DirectX 12 titles such as Cyberpunk and BF2042. Recently, Intel acknowledged a microcode problem in their latest CPUs that was contributing to these issues. Additionally, there were concerns about motherboard manufacturers not applying the correct voltage specifications. Earlier, I managed to resolve the problem by slightly lowering the CPU voltage. A subsequent BIOS update appeared to eliminate the issues without requiring intensive tuning tools like Intel Extreme Tuning Utility. Everything seemed stable for a while.
Then, I decided to play Star Wars Outlaws. My system began displaying persistent blue screens of death—something I hadn't experienced in many years. Occasionally, during gameplay or when exiting, there was no clear reason behind the crashes. I lack sufficient knowledge to analyze dump files effectively for troubleshooting.
In my efforts to fix it, I attempted to run the game on different drives, updated the GPU driver, and refreshed the BIOS. However, these changes only worsened the situation. Eventually, I gave up and performed a complete Windows 11 reinstall, hoping it would clear the problems. I also switched to a different GPU driver and BIOS version during this update (the ones that appeared functional).
Unfortunately, I encountered a unique issue I've never seen before. If I try to alt-tab out of a game and then return, the game becomes unstable—opening and closing repeatedly, preventing me from returning to play. The affected title is The Crew 2, which runs on Ubisoft Connect with the overlay turned off. Anyone else have experienced this? Do you know how to resolve it?
Is this just a problem specific to Ubisoft Connect?
i've encountered various situations with numerous games from different developers concerning alt-tab functionality. some only display the taskbar until you release the keys, others do nothing, and some transition directly to the desktop without issues. others may encounter crashes or error messages. it often depends on the game's specific settings—windowed, borderless, fullscreen, etc.—and sometimes you need to use Task Manager to maximize a particular game's process. i don't consider this as an OS problem or something easily fixed. it seems like a characteristic of how each game was developed.
Thank you for the response. It seems this might be the first time encountering an alt tab problem while playing a game in full screen. Borderless appears to be a solution that functions without issues. This is currently working well!
