Is there an external GPU dock suitable for a desktop PC?
I have a desktop PC and need to connect an additional graphics card (PCIe Gen 5 interface) to it, but there is no room inside the desktop PC for this additional graphics card. I heard there is a type of device called external GPU dock. Can you please give a solution (what things I need to buy) to connect the graphics card externally? PS, The desktop PC is running Ubuntu. Please make sure the solution works from hardware installation to driver installation on Ubuntu. Thanks.

You should include your location and your budget.
If your platform lacks a Thunderbolt connection, I wouldn't bother. On a side note, why do you need a secondary discrete GPU?
What requirements are expected from the desktop, such as Thunderbolt? I will review it.
Simplest solution: swap the PC case. This increases internal space inside, allowing you to fit a larger GPU without altering the eGPU, riser cables, or power connections.
If you're not sure which case to choose, opt for full-tower ATX models—they offer plenty of room even for the biggest GPUs.

Note: For Dell prebuilt desktops, the situation becomes more complex because proprietary MoBos don’t fit standard ATX designs.
