I'm searching for a wireless mouse or a wireless game controller that you can comfortably hold in your hand and use like a mouse. You want something portable, usable in your hand, and wireless. I'm looking for brands or models that fit this description.

The issue is the distance from my shoulder where I place the mouse, which often causes arm and wrist strain even during short sessions. Currently, I use a wireless mouse from KB (Logitech). When I switch to KB, I can comfortably place it on my lap without discomfort.

I typically use the mouse for everyday tasks like selecting icons on the desktop (Windows 10), browsing the internet, scrolling, highlighting text, copying and pasting, clicking links, and performing menu actions.

My previous searches on the web didn’t yield useful results because the products I found were aimed at business presentations with built-in laser pointers, which aren’t ideal for my needs.

I’m also curious about game controllers since I’m unfamiliar with them. The games I play usually use the standard mouse and keyboard combo, which works well. However, I sometimes see videos of third-party controllers being used on regular PCs for arcade-style games, and I’m wondering if there are any alternatives that could serve as a daily substitute for a mouse on a home desktop.

Thank you.

You could connect your system to an Xbox(360 or One) controller. I believe you might want to show a picture of your desktop area. If your arrangement follows good ergonomics, you shouldn't be facing any discomfort in your hands or shoulders, which suggests your posture or setup might need adjustment.

Gyration does a full line of "air mouse".
This is one of their cheaper ones:
https://www.newegg.com/p/0TP-022M-00010
I had a different one, long ago. It was great, but charging was a pain. It had to sit at the exactly correct orientation in the charger. 0.2mm off...no charge.

Another option is a keyboard featuring an integrated trackpad:

the general term for these items is a wireless presentation mouse, often used to display PowerPoint slides and similar content. I appreciate the accuracy of thumb trackball models since I don’t prefer pointing-stick designs; however, both are convenient to carry in a pocket or behind your back during presentations, while a touchpad might cause too many unintended clicks (physical trigger button FTW). Adesso offers a version you can wave around like a Wii controller or gyro TV remote if you’re okay with looking a bit silly.

Hey guys. I'll check those leads later. It was really annoying using Google search without the minus sign—it kept showing me irrelevant results. They all seem capable of handling the task. I plan to use it at home for personal use in my living room. I don’t own any gaming consoles, and I haven’t played one since the 1980s, which is why I’m looking into handheld controllers.

I just wanted to let everyone know what I ended up doing after looking at the responses. Using search terms such as "air mouse" or "air remote" really helped narrow things down. Although there was still a lot of irrelevant information, it guided me toward a few promising options.

I found three products that seemed to fit what I was seeking. The first was the "2-in -1 Gyration Air Mouse, Mini 2.4G Gyro Wireless Mouse." One of the people who replied mentioned it. I tried it but had to return it because using it caused a blister on my hand and I struggled with adjusting the cursor movement. To be honest, it uses a built-in gyro to track the mouse's position. The key lesson was to consider how big the device is compared to your hand size.

The second option was the "EIGIIS 2.4G Ergonomic Trackball Handheld Finger USB Mouse." I’ve only used it for a day so far, but I’m planning to keep it. It meets my requirements—it’s wireless, has two versions (one without a laser and one with), and fits comfortably in my hand. The buttons for left and right click are a bit tricky to get used to, likely because of their placement. A minor issue is that it feels somewhat lightweight, which might affect its durability over time.

I also discovered another brand that could be a good alternative if I decide not to continue with the first one. It’s the "ELECOM 2.4GHz Wireless Handheld Thumb Control Trackball Mouse." Its description and image suggest it could work well for me, though it costs about $20 more than the model I bought.
